The Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle has been chosen as the new ‘Number 10 Museum in Residence’.
Nine artworks the gallery will be on display at Number 10 Downing Street for one year and will be seen by VIPS from around the world, showcasing art and heritage from across the North East.
Conservative Candidate for North East Mayor Guy Renner-Thompson said, "It is fantastic news that artwork from the Laing in Newcastle has been chosen as the new 'Number 10 Museum in Residence’ with North East paintings hanging for the Prime Minister and his esteemed guests from the UK and abroad"
The first thing visitors to No 10 will see after walking through the famous front door is a huge portrait of the Tyne Bridge under construction. Great promotion for our region and its history, and well timed with restoration already underway after the Government announced £35 million to complete the work!"
